Here is my puffer tank when everything was still new:

My puffer tank tonight, with the addition of rock formations and laterite mixed into the sand (Sorry about the murky water; the sand won't have cleared up until the morning I think):

The current inhabitants (3 Oto's):

Nice looking tank mate!! What sort of puffers are you going to be putting in there? The smaller ones like figure 8 and dwarf are my favourite and I'm also going to be setting a dwarf puffer tank myself.

otos means freshwater aquarium, their choices are: fiqure 8 puffer, dwarf puffer and the amazon puffers. the tank looks great if I had the money I wish I could setup lots of tanks with all the fav tanks I want!

your tank is cool I like the aquascaping,

andrew

actually there are several other choices for freshwater puffers including the mbu puffer, but they are a tad pricey.

Thank you for the compliments! As usual, it's guaranteed that the aquascape will change with time.

As I understand it I have many choices for what type of puffer to put in there:

Carinotetraodon travancoricus (Dwarf Puffer, Malabar Puffer, Pygmy Puffer)
Tetraodon cutcutia (Common Puffer, Avocado Puffer, Malyan Puffer, Ocellated Puffer)
Carinotetraodon Irrubesco (Red-tailed Red Eye Puffer)
Carinotetraodon lorteti (Red Eye Puffer)
Tetraodon Cochinchinensis (Fang's Puffer, Red Spot puffer)
Colomesus asellus (South American Puffer, "SAP", Brazilian Puffer, Amazon Puffer)
Tetraodon leiurus (Target Puffer)
Tetraodon suvatti (Arrowhead Puffer, Mekong puffer, pig-nose puffer, hog-nose puffer)

Some of those are not wise choices, like the T. Suvatti. They require a bigger tank in the 30gal range. That is the list that was recommended to me on a puffer board though.

A correction, Figure8 puffers are stictly brackish although they are often sold as freshwater.

OOOooooo get some Colomesus - I love my little Colomesus puffs. I would STRONGLY suggest that you take those Otos out before your puffs go in though or they will be lunch! Smile

I went to the LFS with my gf and they had a tank of SAPs! We picked the one with the fullest belly (he ate a shrimp for breakfast apparently).

He has quite an appetite, and he doesn't stop moving! I gather it is fairly common SAP behaviour, but he doesn't stop starring at himself in the glass. There were 5 feeder guppy's in there yesterday...

We named him Lundy, because he is French (he eats snails) and he's from Monday (Lundi).

NOTE: the two smaller Oto's went on vacation to another tank. Lundy was nipping at them. The larger Oto holds his own and actually beats on Lundy a little.

congrads on the new fish. I had a SAP or amazon puffer. sadly he and the filter had a disagreement Sad . mine lived with 2 kuhli loaches in a dimly lit tank and it quickly learned they weren't food!

I feed him live blood worms and whats really fun to do is to grab some blodo worms between two fingers and drag them along the surface of the tank. puffer exercise!

also you pic isn't working. try reposting it. I took a look at it and he looks great probably enjoying his rocky setup.
