I've yet to read a scientific study on the bubble boy syndrome. I've heard this referenced before in conjuntion with UV and (in my opinion) don't think very much of the theory. Having used UV extensively, I've yet to have fish show any side effects from UV.

On the other side, I've never used a UV and haven't had a sick fish in about 25 years, a little longer maybe. IMO, it's an unnecessary piece of equipment and more expense and just something else to maintain.

I've been using my UV sterilizer for about a month now. I am very pleased with the results. I had "green water" and bought it just for that reason. It cleared the tank up in about 1 week and the water looks great. The fish are heathy and very active..... I also like the idea of it being effective against bacteria and parasites...... So if you have reason to buy one, like I did, then I say it is a good investment. But I don't see any reason to go out and spend the money on one, just to have it.

Maroon Clownfish

Feather Dusters

??Is a Uv Sterlizer necessary because if one guy get sick I can't treat the water with copper because of the LR and the Inverts.

FM, as I have said many times my friend, you need two tanks.
Big one for display and small one for QT. By maintaining 4 week QT protocol for all new arrivals you will greatly reduce your chances of infectious parasites. If you have a single fish problem or a system wide outbreak you can move the fish there for treatment. BTW, your latest bio list looks great!!! just drop the anemone at least until you have some more experience and the lighting required to make it happy. UV is not necessary; I would rather see you invest in QT and a good skimmer. Even the best UV is not a guarantee against all parasites; at any rate you can always add one down the road if you like.

speaking of q. tanks, FB, I recently read from a book that claimed keeping the SG in the QT tank @ 1.016 was okay... any thoughts on that?

they also suggested cleaning the tank out thoroughly after any treatements...

Lowered salinity as a prophylaxis is a myth. Period. There's no need to treat a non-sick fish, and adding more acclimation/shifts to its life will not cause less stress, but more.
