Yeah, Fishtown USA is the best you're gonna get around this area. Its' on Northern Blvd. a few blocks from the Francis Lewis Blvd. intersection. I've also heard really good things about "New World Aquariums" in Manhattan, but I haven't been there.

I visit "New world" pretty often, they have decent selection of different fish species, aquatic plants etc.

The other store I like is Petqua:

It's small, but fish is well taken care of and the owner is nice Smile

Hope this helps,
F.

To add for future reference-

Avoid Pacific Aquarium and Plant on Delancey. The first few times I went in the place seemed great. The last two times, though, I have been absolutely appaulled by the condition of the place. I don't know what's going on, but it has taken a decided turn for the worse. That is unless your interested in Oscars with columnaris and looking at Rack tanks with dead, nearly skeletal gobies (at least I think they were gobies).

I too go to New World. They always have a good selection of generic community fish as well as interesting cichlids. The fish are generally in good shape and the staff is helpful. (Though not overly friendly, which I find refreshing. They completely understand if you want to take a aeon standing there watching before you buy and are happy to leave you alone). Also, they always have a good selection of live food, which is convienient.
