For those who've had numerous setups over the years and have gone in and out of the hobby, is there one particular setup you wish you could have back?
I miss the 25g hex with a UGF that came on it's own custom stand. We had a tower built up in the center with rocks that looked like a mountain side, with some java fern tucked into the crevises. It looked so cool! It was stocked with various tetras, mostly neons.
We lost a lot of the fish when the UGF stopped working and we couldn't figure out the probem. So we gave it to my mom who set it up and it worked for her just fine. The neons even had babies! It ended up sold at a garage sale, but MAN I wish I could have that one back!

my 15 gallon with rams, neons and panda cories. I havent been in the hobby to long but that was one of my first setups. after a few months I sold the rams to one of the customers at my work who loved them and after that it just wasnt the same. my sister has the neons and pandas now as a present. the tank is sitting in my basement waiting for the day I can afford to get a similar setup going. hopefully with some of those cool green otos!

Ooh, nice thread. Hmmmm ...

I'd say ... ooh, I had a lovely 20 long, very heavily planted, with a large group of Ember tetras. That was a nice tank. But on the whole I really don't miss having given up boring fish in favor of Tanganyikans, just those Ember tetras are such lovely, sweet fish I can't not miss them, boring or no.

Wow. Tough question. I've had a lot of setups.

I think my favorite one of all was a plant tank. More precisely, a saltwater macroalgae tank. This 75 gallon reef was light on the animals, but densely planted with thick, luxurious macroalgaes of nearly 30 different species.
You've seen those Dutch & Amano freshwater planted tanks, right? Now imagine the saltwater version. Oh, yeah...

I couldn't even begin to pick a favorite freshwater tank. I've had some with rare fish which were nice, but then I've had some planted ones which almost looked as good as Steve's. Almost. I did have this one tank which had a seemingly magical property; almost any pair of fish placed into it would spawn within a week. It used to drive me crazy, trying to figure out what was so great about that tank that I couldn't seem to reproduce in others.
