Hi I was interested in getting coral like some Zoos or a mushroom. Well my question is do you have to place the coral on a rock or can you just place it on my crushed up coral bed. Any suggestions would really help. Very Happy

what type of lighting do you have on your 55g? in my 7.5g which has 45watts of lighting I have some zoos on a rock sitting on the substrate and I have some on the rockwork. it really depends on your lighting. if your lighting isn't much you will want to put your zoos up high on the rock if you got decent lighting you can put them anywhere you please. for mushrooms you can place them really anywhere you want. I had some mushrooms in my 32g tall tank under 60watts of lighing and they were around 12" from the lighting and they were fine and multiplied and spread out.

cheers

Budget is kind of tight. I just have two 15 watt marine-Glo lights. I hope to get better lighting real soon.

wait is this on your 10g? if you add 1 more 15watt fluoro I would see not reason why you couldn't have some soft corals. also if you add anouther 15watt 18" fluoro get an actinic tube for it(blue) it really makes the tank look good and it makes it look like its a deeper part of the ocean!

yikes 30 watts on a 55g tank. no coral! put 4 x 40watt fluoros on it and you will be able to get a large number of corals! wpg dosen't really mater its the intesitiy of the lighting! heres a link to some one with a tank your size and its amazing with only 3 10k 40watt bulbs and 1 actinic 40watt bulb! http://www.masa.asn.au/rtaw/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=journal&Number=88798&page=4&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

cheers
