On Feb 5 this article will have been in the works for a month, which seems to be a good amount of time to work on it. So on that date I will change the [draft] to the [ready] indicator in the subject line for Marcos, letting him know it's ready for him. It can take him a while to get to the article after it has been marked [ready], so don't be afraid to add additional suggestions if it is still here.
So, if you have a fishkeeping term you would like to see added to the Glossary, do it soon! Also, please check the list of contributors... if I have left anyone out, let me know and I'll put you in. _________________ Happy fishkeeping!
That was an AWESOME effort guys and girls...great job! My suggestion is that we move this finalized initial version to the Articles section where it gets WAY more exposure, but keep this topic over here "open" so we can all continue to contribute more additions to the Glossary as they come up, and every now and then a revised version is put in replacement of the previous one...
I may even go as far as adding a "Glossary" link at the top of the pages (together with Advertise*Contact*Search* etc...) so it can be readily accessible to anyone reading any page on the site.
I'll try to get the new page up ASAP... _________________ Are you a Fish-HAVER or a Fish-KEEPER?

Adding it as a link on the top of the pages would be a great idea. Actually, when this whole thing got rolling, there was a request to set it up to be a browsable pop up window. Is it possible to set it up to open in a new browser window, so users can view it without losing the thread or gallery submission they are needing help with? Just a thought, I know it is possible code wise, but would it cause traffic problems etc?
That's a great idea as well, it's perfectly possible and doesn't represent any extra load on the site. I can set it up just like the Search link, opening a smaller window while maintaining the main one where it is. _________________ Are you a Fish-HAVER or a Fish-KEEPER?

I just realized that when I changed things around to split the glossary in two, that I inadvertently deleted the list of contributers!
The following people have made contributions to this Glossary:
Marcos Avila, Azrien, Benedictj, DJ Mix, Huntress, Haname, The Kapenta Kid, Slackra, Matt (TVI),
I am pretty sure there were at least a few more. Please let me know if your name should be on this list. Even if you think your contribution was a small one, you are still a contributor and we want to include your name. Sorry for the oversight. _________________ Happy fishkeeping!
I think that it will be also important when you post the glossary up, wherever, and leave it open for possible feedback regarding terms that are missing, that you emphasize again that it is a basic glossary, not an encyclopedia.
The original contributors understood this and only supplied basic definitions of the commonest terms. You don't want to open the floodgates to suggestions of all sorts of recondite and specialist terms or extensive qualifications of definitions. Or at least I assume you don't. _________________ Men live like fishes;

Certainly not. As I see it, what we need is for the glossary to have entries that are relatively frequent and definitions that are essentially correct but, above all, succinct and immediately understandable by most readers...say, at the high-school level. _________________ Are you a Fish-HAVER or a Fish-KEEPER?

Done! I decided to set it up for now as a true article in the Articles section instead of a popup window, but it's also accessible on every page of the site through the Glossary link at the top.
Haname, if you remember any other contributors let me know. And I overruled your modesty by putting you at the beginning of the author's list
As I mentioned before, new additions can be suggested here in this topic and the page will be updated occasionally. I added two entries to the "J" section just so it didn't remain empty _________________ Are you a Fish-HAVER or a Fish-KEEPER?
