I've had him for about 6 months now and he has grown in that time about half that. they grow slow but recently more rapidly. he is fed on a diet of brine shrimp, pellets, guppies and sometimes beefheart. he eats everything I throw in the tank cause I have other fish in the tank. he reminds me of an oscar how he begs for food.

My severum Begs too. I bought him when he was an inch long and now he's about 5 inches after 7 months.

I have 2 dempseys, I only showed the pic of 1. the other one is paler, and the left eyeball seems a little awkward, kinda looks more foward instead of sideways like normal, what is the problem and what could I do about it?

thanks for the postive replies, I really love this fish and would love to breed them in the near future. has anyone have any info on breeding them?
To get a true Electric Blue Dempsey, you have to breed a blue with a regular, then breed the offspring back with a blue. It is very tedious, and very time consuming, and costly.

Heres a pic of one of mine.

They do get more blue with age. The male sometimes gets a dark greenish sheen on the body (when displaying to the female).
Really pretty fish, and so far they haven't harmed any fish or
plants. I think I'm going to get a couple more.
