I got the contact below from our member The Old Salt who's been having a lot of trouble getting on to the board. If anyone has had similar difficuties and know how to help I'd appreciate it...

Quote:
With Netscape, I get a cookie popup from Paypal, and after that, the I
get a "document done" message on a blank page which is sort of cadet
blue in color. Hitting "reload" doesn't help.

In Internet Explorer, the board comes up, but then I get an "illegal
operation" message and IE crashes completely.

Could you pass a message on to the board's denizens for me?
I have managed to solve the riddle of the Bluenose Shiner, Pteronotropis
welaka, and have gotten it to spawn on my very first attempt using the
method I postulated would finally work. This fish has confounded
hundreds of people over the past 50 years with it's stubborn refusal to
spawn, but I finally know the secret ingredient which has been missing
all this time.
Last February I got an article in FAMA for getting the Flagfin Shiner to
spawn, but this time TFH wants the story, and it's getting it.
Anyway, I'm trying to spread the news far and wide among those who might
know about this fish's history and/or care that it's finally been been
spawned in a manner which should be easy to reliably replicate.

I really miss you guys. I've tried to find a home on some other boards,
but most of them are populated either by pretenders, snobs or newbies,
none of whom I can relate to at all. Your board had the best mix of
truly knowledgable and open hobbyists I have ever found, and it irks me
that I can't get on that board anymore. -sigh-
Please tell everybody "HI!" for me. Thanks.

Well either way I hope he gets this solved! I really like many of are NA native cyprinids but they are quite uncommon. Hopefully he can get these spread around as they are dissapearing from the natural habitat(some parts of SE US). I wouldn't mind trying some of the easier species myself.

My suggestion to him is to install Mozilla and see if it works(Mozilla.org) I have not tried firefox but I'm sure some on here also use it. Funny as I've been thinking a bit about him and wondering why few North America natives people frequent message boards. It looks like this hobby will(and is already most likely)becoming similar to the killifish hobby-fish are by the hobbyist-to the hobbyist....which means people need to do the best to spread them around as the killifish hobby has had its loss of apparently common species amongst hobbyist which dissapeared from the hobby. In the same way a rare fish if bred easily and successfully could quickly become a more commonplace among fishkeepers.

For the curious-here is the fish he is talking about. Yep-its a native!

He may want to run some security checks on his system. I've had that happen with Yahoo and I had a worm on my system.

Netscape is pretty much out dated and doesn't really run on Windows XP, so that may be another problem as well. I don't think it's the board or the site because more people would have this problem.
