When I heard that I could do this, it sounded like a dream... I could avoid messy muddy substrate underneath my gravel if I simply plant my plants into small pots with a bit of special fertilizing substrate. That way I could also move them around later without disturbing any muddy substrate (I'm talking about the peat stuff, not gravel, which isn't a big deal to disturb). And I could just use gravel-only.

Where would I find such pots, though? I'm thinking they might be little plastic ones with holes in them that allow roots to breathe. Thanks, Laskey

Ah, okay, thanks. I was worried about buying anything that wasn't specifically designed for aquariums. (Not being a chemistry expert, I'm afraid of toxins leaching into the water.) But you know what, I heard a lot of people use nylon in their tanks for various things, and that I might be able to plant the plants in nylons (and of course bury the roots). Maybe I'll do that! Wink
