I noticed that this very common plant was not yet listed in the Gallery so I figured I would write it up. The plant picture is not a prime example of the species but should give a good idea of its growth. I'd be willing to bet someone has a better picture somewhere
Group: Large Plants
Name: Heteranthera zosterifolia - 'Stargrass'
Origin: South America
Care: Easy
Substrate: Normal
Lighting: Bright - Very Bright
This beautiful, bright green, fast-growing plant makes a great contrast to red plants in an aquarium. It requires strong light and frequent pruning in order to make sure enough light reaches the lower leaves or they will blacken and die. It puts out numerous water roots when growth begins in earnest. _________________ "When I held that gun in my hand, I felt a surge of power ... like God must feel when he's holding a gun."

Thanks Travis! That's a nice pic although I may chop the cichlids out of it for the final page. My wife has a really nice patch of Stargrass in her little 15 liter "shrimp" tank, I'll try to get her to take a pic and write a paragraph as well _________________ Are you a Fish-HAVER or a Fish-KEEPER?
