sure, I'll borrow the inlaws' digital, but you can see the basic fixture by downloading the pdf from the officail site, they also have a diagram of their models...

So if I get something that looks like
this:

or this:

I can just take a peice of plexiglass and set either of those on top of it?
Oh and btw another of my fish just had babies. I was doing a water change when I noticed the little tiny frys. I either sucked some up already and dumped them out or they were eat I was only able to save 4 of them.

I haven't owned a pc fixture before, so I can't say for sure that you'd be all right putting it directly onto a lid (I get mine tues., so I'll have an idea soon! Smile )... in your second picture, you can see the fixture has docking mounts, the fixture in the first picture is being offered by marineandreef.com w/ free docking mounts, these attach to the side of your tank and keep the fixture from being too close to the water...

Hope this gives you some ideas. This is a stand and canopy my father in-law built for my 29g:

a lot of the canopies you see in the stores, the entire lid opens, but I didn't want mine like that, so we cut the top in half. Lot less weight on the hinge too!

The whole back of mine is open so there are no issues with space for filters, heaters, cords etc.

My father in-law did a nice job routing the edges. The top of the stand has the same cut and routing...

I used the light that came with the tank. The only thing I did is take off the front panel so that when I open the canopy, I have access to the water.

This is just another pic of the back of the canopy off of the tank...

Here you can see we just put little rails inside for the canopy to rest on the frame of the tank. We put one on each side and one in the front.

Here is a closer pic of the rails and the hinge...
