Hello.
I just bought a Clown Knife Fish to accompany my silver arowana. He's a BEAUTY. He's around 6-7" right now...I'm just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on keeping her, and what kind of foods they eat. THANKS!

Of course, everything else failing you can always just go to the Gallery section of this site and read TWO PAGES worth of comments by fishkeepers who have hands-on experience with this species Rolling Eyes

http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_cknife.php

If you do a Google search you'll just get sent back to that page anyway Wink

I have both fish also in a custom tank in my home county. They both prefer live food (feeder fish) but can be trained to eat prepared food if they are still juveniles. The clown knife will grow extremely fast. If you think oscar grows fast, you should see how clown knife grows Shocked We feed ours feeder goldfish, frogs, centipedes, crickets and even lizards. The clown knife prefers feeder fish though but will spit out anything that ain't moving.

I've already read the gallery. I did that first before I posted this. I want to know if there is anything else but feeders...becuase all fish are different. Even if they are the same species. Thanks.

Wow, thanks Nino.
LIZARDS?! Hmm...The one I have is only about 13-15cm and I've been feeding it blood worms. I haven't seen it go for any feeders yet, and I'm trying to train it to eat some dried foods. I feed my aro crickets, but the clown knife seems really shy right now and found his home in between my driftwood. If I over feed him with fatty foods will he develop drop eye as well?...

Since they are pretty much juveniles right now, don't make them used to eating life feeders. You can do that once in a while as treats. You have more risk feeding them live food since they may catch sickness and stuff if those aren't clean. My arowana was sick a few times because of that but he refuses to eat anything that is not moving.

Instead of live blood worm, you can try feeding them the frozen one also.

Feed them krill at night after lights out, they love it. Smile
