Two issues: black hair algae that is taking over. I have started using ro water but only recently. Until then I have cut back on light and started triming plants. Am using algae fix in a bucket and putting plants in it. When the algae is dead I will clean the plants and put back in the aquarium.
Can I do more?

Second: the water has a green tinge to it. The tank is heavily planted with intense lighting. Will reduction of light and gradual r0 water changes help the green tinge?

Try Steve Hampton's article for information on dealing with algae in a planted tank.
