If you're like me and remove tons of Blue-Green Algae every week during your partial water changes, here's a great idea: don't throw it away...eat it! Laughing Laughing Laughing

(Note for the inevitable thick-as-a-brick's: I'm KIDDING!)

Since you are in Japan, Marcos, have you eaten those Nori seaweed snacks by any chance? I had some in my soup today...I wonder what dried and cooked BGA would look like Laughing

Also, they package the same stuff for fish food for things like tangs.

Yep, nori is dirt cheap and added to just about every dish here, which is a problem for me because I HATE it! Laughing One of the first things I had to learn in Japanese was nori nashi-de onegaishimasu (with no nori, please) Wink

As for the link above, I was also very amused to see the disclaimer to which you 'agree' by navigating their site:

Heheh...I learned to like it when I was little because I couldn't get away from it. The only time it is not all that tasty is if it is not washed well enough(or otherwise like that to start with) and you end up with some gritty stuff(sand) in your mouth... Laughing

My marine biology and SCUBA master instructor's wife is Japanese, so during our six hour Saturday classes, Dr. Reavis would bring in something for his lunch from her, usually nori soup or something along those lines. Smile We were all offered a dry piece, and all I can compare it to is dried iceberg lettuce. No real taste to this Americanized-eating-of-fast-food tongue!

I must try it again. Maybe with BBQ sauce. (kidding! Very Happy)

Tara,

I think in true American fashion Ketsup would be the way to go.

Nah, Irons, we gotta deep-fry it and put it on a stick. Very Happy

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but doesn't cyano- usually contain toxins that keep any intelligent animal from eating it? If so, wouldn't this outweigh any benefits you might get from putting it into your digestive system? Plus, it's got to have that wonderful BGA smell . . . Smile
