Sorry I've been talkin about this topic in many different parts of the site....
Today I replaced the hood with one that uses fluorescent bulbs...

My fish seem happier and so do my plants........
The temp has come down some but it could also be becuase its REALLY REALLY COLD HERE NOW!!!! I hate winter

my tank is 82f and I don't have a heater. it must be the light heating the water

what kind of lighting do you have marto?

I was running 2 15W incandescent bulbs on my old hood but bought a new hood with 1 15W fluorescent (but plan to change that out for a 30W soon) and my temp now avg. 75F.

I think I need a heater now to try to hold the temp around 78F.

15W I have it on 12 hours a day (during day time)
