Hi,

I have 2 tanks, 1 with 3 White Cloud Mountain Minnows in, 1 with 4 medium (2.5 inches) goldfish.

The White Clouds are living in unfiltered, but air pumped, coldwater.

The goldfish are living in filtered and airpumped coldwater.

My question is would they be OK living together. Question The Minnows are pretty big (1.5 inches) as I have has them a long time.

Will they get bullied?

I am only able to keep 1 tank as we are moving soon so it's either they mix toghether or they have to go. Crying or Very sad

How should I go about mixing them? On neutral territory?

Thanks for your time.

Rachel

These two species should be fine together! I have never had an experience of goldfish exhibiting aggressive behavior!

My White Clouds used to love playing in the fast running stream from the HOB filter, and I really enjoyed watching them do this. It's also fun if you set up an airstone and let them ride it up and down ike a Ferris Wheel!

Good luck in your move . . . don't worry . . . it'll work out just fine! Very Happy

Best regards, Joe

Hi thanks Smile

One thing I forgot to mention is that I have 1 goldfish, a Red Shiner, who is really fast, can zoom up and down the tank in seconds! He chases the other goldfish like nothing (but it isn't releasing eggs as I have found none whilst cleaning out Question )

Also they used to live toghether until I got this fish, and then I had to move the White Clouds becuase they couldn't swim as fast as the Red Shiner Rolling Eyes and got chased too much.

Should I just plunge them in there so to speak or what? Question

What should I do if they do get chased?

Also should I buy a plant they can hide in or an ornament that they can retreat to that the bigger goldfish can't?????

All help appreciated,

Thanks

Just out of curiosity. What size is the tank and what types of goldfish do you have?

Whitecloudfan, it sounds you enjoy the hobby and love your fish! Before you add anything I think you should invest in your fishes future happiness adn get a 20gal maybe 29gal tank for your goldies. All goldfish have the capability to reach 12inches, comets get bigger so they'll definately appreciate the extra room.
I added 8 white clouds along with my 2 comets, they ate most of them straight away although they were about 5inches and the WCM's were less than an inch long!

Well if me...then I now have 2 goldfish. (2 died during the house move). The remaning two are not the problem fish that I was worried about mixing becuase these are more placid where as the ones that died were the more aggressive fish.

I have since mixed them & so far there is no chasing or nipping so so far so good hopefully Smile

My tank is 10g and that is to house 2 goldfish (2inches each) and 3 white clouds (1 inch each).

You really do need at least a 20g for the two goldies or you are going to have stunted, sick fish on your hands fairly quickly. Goldies can grow in excess of 12" in diameter. One of the biggest in aquariums is 15" and reportedly still growing. Not only that but they are messy buggers and foul their homes quite quickly.
