Well NOAH when I "painted" the styrofoam with the conrete mix I added the color to the conrete. The colors are the 4 or so you can buy at home depot or lows. Also I would imagine you could probobly order other pigmints to make more colors.

ahhhh I saw this huge thread and just assumed it was done, but its not! I can't wait to see the full effect with the water and fish, and it will be even better 8 months down the road or so with a nice algae patina, but I don't want to wait that long :~(

Very inspiring pictures! What sort of carving tool exactly did you use? And where did you get it from?

Broodingwolf you can get the foam carving tools at http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/products/customer/home.php they are very handy:)

NOAH its really very easy but a little time cosoming. Just remember when doing the rocks to think in 3 deminsions. So instead of a boring flat wall you angle some of the wall in and out and up and down etc. Also if you have any questions just let me know I will be glad to help.

I really think that you should make this a cambodian biotope. It would fit in so perfectly! You could have a huge tank full of asian fish! I think having cichlids in there might look out of place... they don't really look jungley as the backgroud suggests.
If you're against the community then I think a school of silver dollars would look really really great. Their colour would be really shown off against the backgroud and in subdued lighting (like maybe a few spotlights shining down on the face, I really like how it looked with the flourescent from your smaller tank shining on it) with a whole bunch of plants... Shocked it would be a sight to behold!

Keep up the good work!

Manda thanks for the input:) I don't really like the comunity tanks much but I am leaning to doing the largest school of silver dollars I can fit in the tank. Also they will fit perfectly with the background. Just think of it as an Olmec Temple http://www.orecity.k12.or.us/ogden/beck_sites/01bbbolmec/bbb_olmec.htmSmile

Well we are getting close now:) All "rocks" are siliconed in place and I think I am just about done with the plant layout. I just have a few more small details then I can move it into place and add water. Take a look at the layout of the plants and tell me what you think. Also where the cut is on the left I will have gravel washing out onto the empty spot like running water has been cutting a channel.

WOW. I really love the plants! I can't wait to see it with fish and water in it. Are you keeping the lighting like that? It looks really great with shadows in the corners.
