hello guys...I m from malaysia....I wanted to start a new pond in a cheap way...buying a fiber glass pond and plant it on the ground.I wanted to ask if whether it is harmful to fish if I spray the fiber tank with black colour because the primer colour is blue..light blue....will the paint contaminate the water even after it dry...?

Yes it could, (depending on the type of paint) - the liner will dull down with algae etc. You could try using a butyle/pvc liner, as cheap and you can pick your colour.

IMO it would probably crack and flake away eventually anyway. Jimbobs suggestion was good.

May I ask what is wrong with the colour you have right now ? Blue is a darker colour and can be easily be hidden by plants around the outside and inside of the pond.As for painting the pond a different colour , the pond is constructed and lined with a protective coat in the inside and out.

I used a pvc liner that lasted 15years, the butyle liners can last twice as long depending on exposure to ice/frost etc. I have seen pvc in black beinge and green. My pvc liner was a beige color that darkened over the first two seasons (which was as long as it took the plants to establish.)

I have only seen butyle in black.
