k found out my problem my alkalinity is too high how do I go about lowering this without changing tons of water.

Do you mind me asking what are the present levels and where do you want them to be at? My local tap water runs at about 7.2, the tank holds at 7.6.

I've used bogwood to get levels down in previous set up's. There are chemicals you can add to the water but I understand that you have to keep putting them in to maintain a constant level.

assuming the is salt water, water changes are realy the only effective way to lower alkalinity. again, what are your levels? you want around 2.6 meq/l.

currently it is around 5.5 so I really need to lower it a bit.

Check your pH if your pH is off that will make your alk off they actually work together. You want your alk 9-12 dkh and your pH at 8.1 - 8.2
