I just got a 125 gallon tank that I am going to move everything into except my 2 convicts. I want to add a couple of black tip sharks in with them(55 gallon tank) will this work or will they kill my new sharks? I also think I am going to add my 2-10inch oscars with my 2-Orange Midas and 1- Jaguar in the new 125 tank or is that a bad idea. _________________ Kford54 |

Whats a black tip shark? I've only heard it used to discribe real, oceanic sharks, and that won't work! Bala sharks? Well those, and similar species will get to big for a 55, growing to a foot and requiring swimming space.
The 125 might have issues with the 2 Midas and 2 Jag. All three fish tend to be incredibly agressive, and I would rate the probability of carnage pretty high. Adding the Oscars will probably be a death sentance. They are nowhere as agressive as the other 3 and would quickly be bullied. Additionally, the waste produced would be terrible. Most people recomend keeping 2 oscars in nothing smaller than that size (give or take a few gallons) with no other tankmates. |

Bala sharks is what I was refering too. I did not realize they got that big. As for the Oscars that is what I thought but figured I would ask and make sure. The two Midas I have are not aggressive at all and have never shown any even when I add feeder fish! does anyone know how to sex them? _________________ Kford54 |

| The midas will probably start show some aggression in the near future. The jaguar will also most like do the same thing...I would say that the 125 gallon is too small for all those fish even if it is well filtered. Bala sharks need to be in groups of three or more, and they need their swimming space...if your convicts are a breeding pair, I'm not sure if that will be such a good idea either. |

| In a 55 you could go with tiger barbs or giant danios. Even Silver Dollars might work. The first two are smaller and cheaper to replace if they get eated, but the silver dollars get a bigger and should not be threatened by convicts. |

my 55 gallon has a breeding pair of convicts and some silver dollers along with a large JD, I would deffinatly rcomended some silver dollers with the convicts, the silver dollers are quick enought that the convicts can never realy beat up on them. _________________ Happieness is like wetting your pants... everybody can see it but only you can feal the warmth. |
