Unfortunately, the female which had what appeared to be fungus died despite salt treatment and a period in which she seemed better. Luckily she spawned several times before being moved to a seperate tank for treatment. The very lonely male is now kept company by some of his children.
First the male. His breeding colors have for the most part dissapeared. You can still see faint traces of the blue bars.
One of the smaller fry
And one of the larger ones(ignore the waterspots)
They are doing quite well on a diet of live baby brine shrimp. The male helps himself to those and occasional blackworms. |

Nice fish. Don't worry about your female. I am sure one of these babies are going grow up into one. _________________ Indiaqualover |

Thanks guys for the replies!
Indiaqualover: I sure hope I get a good sex ratio from this group. Probably won't be using the male I showed as I want to try to keep what little genetic diversity I've got. With this little group of fry I should have a good chance.
Benedictj: LOL! I actually have one person who may want some of these later on. I plan on keeping all of these babies as I don't want to end up in the same situation I'm in right now again.(one lonely male). However, if these fry breed well, then I should have lots of these little guys soon. They aren't that prolific but I bet it shouldn't be hard to raise a good number of them. |
