| Most of the tests are the same. So you should be able to use the chemical level tests like pH and nitrate/phosphate/ammonia/nitrit without any problems. I think the only difference between the two is that there are tests for iodine/alkaline/trace |

Wrong. Ammonia tests are different in SW then In FW. You can only use Nitite and pH I believe. _________________ 85 Gallon Marine Tank

Actually you are wrong. AP's Salicylate reagent test kits (the kind you should be using) are for both Freshwater and Saltwater. You are testing for ammonia...it's the same chemical whether found in fresh or salt water. _________________

Yup it's actually the nessler ammonia test kit that cannot be used for fresh water. Most of aquarium Pharmaceutical test kits come with both salt water and fresh test cards. I think the KH and gH are different though, but I could be wrong. _________________ "Feminae bene moratea historiam raro faciunt" |

Depend on the manufacter if the product can be used for marine and fresh water. It usually say it on the package if the brand have nothing on the packge stating the use for both it does not do freshwater or marine water.
