how do you keep white sand white if you have fish in the tank

I've tried twice and want to try again

I've tried with white sand and with normal
now I want to try again with white sand

its simply fish feces show up like I don't know.... feces against white sand.
how do you clean the sand when if you bring a vacum too close you just suck up sand as well as the poo???
