I'm about to purchase some live rock and fish from saltwaterfish.com. I was just wondering if anybody has purchased anything from that website before and if it is safe or reliable.

I've heard a lot about them. Some good, most indifferent, and some bad. If at all possible, SEE the fish before you buy. Make sure it's feeding with your own eyes, etc. IOW, avoid MO wherever possible. If you MUST use MO (I.e. for rare species), I can recommend www.themarinecenter.com only. I have had bad experiences with all other MO fish vendors I have done business with.

The same doesn't hold true for inverts/cleaners, I've had good luck with all the sources I've used.

I was going to buy 25 pounds of live rock, a flame angel, a royal gramma, and some clean up crew species. Nothing too delicate. Still a good idea?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what does MO stand for?

If you leave off the fish. Live Rock and critters are find, but MO fish is really not a good idea. The mortality is much higher, damaged specimens are more common, sometimes they ship the wrong sex, or even the wrong species, etc.

Be careful about ordering a flame from any sources over the internet. Most flames that have been caught are not doing well for some reason. There was an article about it in one of the aquarium magazines. Make sure it eats and does well in the store. Watch it for a day or two. It could mean $60+- for you.

Not to mention the life of a beautiful fish. Collection site can be important if there are suspect collection methods in possible use in the area. Flame Angels do have a very broad range and it's certainly posible that some are collected using cyanides.
