OK, step by step for beginners:
1) Open the topic you want to link to, and copy its URL. You will find the URL in the Location/Address Bar of your browser, usually up there near the Navigation Buttons. For example, looking up right now, with this page showing, you should see the following:
http://www.aquahobby.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=20581 ...
There may be some more code after that, but the important part you need is what comes right up until that number after "t=" (in this case 20581, which defines this topic you're looking at). Select (highlight) the URL up to that number (included), right-click over the selection, and left-click on "Copy" in the little window that'll appear.
The rest of the URL isn't important and sometimes can be unsafe to show to others, especially when you can see a part that contains "sid=######################" since that part of the information could allow a smart person to take over your account here.
2) Go to the message you're composing. Now there are two ways to add your link:
(A) The simple way is to make it apparent: Type in "Click Here:" and hit the [ENTER] key, then right-click in the message composition window and left-click on Paste. You'll get this:
(B) The advanced way is to make the link hidden/embedded: Type in "Click Here". Now select (highlight) the word "Here" and left-click on the URL button, the last one in the sequence just above the message composition window. You'll get something like this:
| Code: | | Click [url]Here[/url] |
Now place your cursor inside the first []'s, just after the word "url", and add an equal sign (=). Then paste the URL you copied right after this equal sign. You should end up with something like this:
| Code: | | Click [url=http://www.aquahobby.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=20581]Here[/url] |
Note that there are no spaces whatsoever inside the []'s. After you post it (clicking on Submit) it will come out like this:

In addition to Marcos' excellent tutorial, there is also this info that you can find by clicking the the little "bb code" on the left hand side when posting a response. _________________

Thanks!
I appreciate the tip and the nice smooth way it was presented (using examples)!
