Hi, I just ran into a big problem last night. I'm in the process of setting up my first puffer tank for a F8. I bought a new 100 watt heater for my 20 US gal tank and intsalled it. I set the temp on the heater to 78 F and my tank water was at 74 F. I woke up this morning and my tank temp was up to 85 F and for some reason the sand substrate got agitated to the point where it is so cloudy I can't even see the back of my tank. My SG has gone unchanged. I have no idea why this happend or how to prevent it from happening again. I don't want this to happen again once my tank finishes cycling and I have a puffer in it. If anyone could give me some insight on what is going on in my tank I would really really appreciate it. Thanks! - Tim

adjust your setting on your heater, the cheaper ones are hardly ever accurate...

sounds like you've got a bacteria bloom in your tank, happens a lot to new tanks, should be gone after a while, mine was gone in about 24-48hrs... keep in mind, my experience was w/ a FRESH water tank, it may be something completely different for your saltwater tank...

I agree this is probably a bacterial bloom. Give it a few days.
