When should we re-open our pond? We're in Michigan and it has been winter for a very long time up here. The pond doesn't have an ice on it, so does that mean it's safe to start the filter up again? We also have a booty load of algae in the pond. Any reason for that?

Hi Sahara,
A couple of Q's for you.
Are there fish in the pond now?
How deep is the pond and how many gallons roughly?
What kind of filter do you have ie. simple foam sleeve over submersible pump, submersible box filter fitted to pump, external filter fed from pump?
If no fish now, what do you intend to put in there?
