How big is the tank and how many goldfish are in it? That kind of question is extremely vague given that there are many factors in deciding how often to change a goldfish tank's water. _________________ "Feminae bene moratea historiam raro faciunt" |

| Keep in mind goldfish produce more waste than probably any other fish.I have a 30 gallon with 2 goldfish each around 4-5 inches.I make a 25% change every other week. The tank has live plants and the fish are fed small portions twice daily. My water is crystal and has excellent parameters. |

Matt,
Welcome to the forum. Normally a thread with a question this vague will get removed. We really need a good question with details about your setup and stocking levels to answer almost any question. Please take a moment to read the welcome section so that you can make the best of your experience here.
Glad you found the site! We look forward to helping you and your fish.

You'll want to do water changes of 25-50% weekly. With
filtration, you'll want 10x the gallonage--20 gallon tank--
200 gph filter. Feeding 2 or 3 times a day, only what they
can eat in 2-3 minutes. Goldies need a minimum of 10
gallons per fish, 15 to 20 is even better. _________________ Autobots transform and rollout!! |

| I like to do weekly water changes of 25%-50%. It gives you more leaway if you happen to be out of town or am sick. I do mine on the weekends. Good luck! |
