I checked this book out at the library one day and was really impressed. It has all the imformation you need to set up an amazing planted tank from water chemistry to aquascaping techniques.

I think this is a great beginners book. It's widely available and for a hardback book the price is excellent if you use the link on the left side of this page to order. While some of the information is a bit dated for experienced aquatic gardeners, the Plant Profiles section is excellent for beginning aquatic gardeners to identify plants from the color photos and to learn the basic care of the 150 plant species profiled. Note that the plants profiled are all commonly available species.

This is a great and easy book for novices of planted aquariums. It also details a substantial number of plants commonly found in your local fish store. A must have!
