So, the larger of my two heckellii cichlids died this morning and I didn't take a picture. He'd been slightly blackened and was exhibiting "gasping" behaviour the night before. I don't want advice, I'm just giving a log.

Water Parameters:
pH 7.6 (Anomalously High, should be quite a bit lower, no idea how it jumped)
Temperature: 80.9 Fahrenheit
Cycle: 0/0/5 (Last W/C two weeks previous, 30% W/C slated for Today)
Hardness 140 mg/L GH (40 mg/L KH)

I figure it's the pH that done him in, but I don't understand how the pH adjusted. The water is also slightly harder than tolerable.
