Eh, don't think Sydney tapwater is like liquid rock...would be pretty surprised if it doesn't suit BNs.
Planning on buying a mature pair or colony to start off with? Or a set of small ones and grow them out? _________________ Fishing in the Rivers of Light |

Probably true...will finally get it tested tomorrow.
Wanted to get mature ones, don't particularly want to wait. Just need to find some though - livefish.com.au is selling them for something like $80 each, but much cheaper if you get 4 or more. Was initially aiming for a trio, but if I go through them I will get 4 I guess (and maybe sell one). I will have to talk to them though find out what the chances are of getting the sexes I want, and if they will come from different parents...things like that. |

Alternatively try Petlink, lots of BNs up there. I think it might be cheaper to buy an established pair/trio/colony from someone there than buy unmated adults from livefish. _________________ Fishing in the Rivers of Light |

I was looking around on there the other day actually - seemed to be a fair few around, mostly babies though. Livefish would just be less hassle I guess. |

True - although reviews of said business are mixed.
I used to prefer buying from shops too but somewhere along the way I've realized that getting things from other hobbyists ends up in cheaper and better quality items...as long as proper precautions are taken (e.g. meet in public area, don't pay until you see the goods etc).
Looking forward to seeing your results. _________________ Fishing in the Rivers of Light |

Yeah, I've never dealt with them myself so not quite sure.
I'll have a look around on petlink and some other sites to see if I can get some easily enough, if not I'll probably go livefish.
I'm waiting on some filter parts at the moment but I'll keep you posted, cheers |
