I had lots of JAVA moss growing in my tank. this was a shrimp tank. It was cool for like 4 months and then suddenlt boom. shrimps died...and the moss started turning brown. I emptied the tank...fresh water, no gravel spong filter but the moss still goes brown n dies...no ammonia. nitrate and nitrite is 0. pH is 6.6 anyone knws whats goin on. I had red cherry shrimp and they multiplied like crazy. crystal shrimp too. now all dead or dying.
I only have a spong filter running in the tank. the crystals shrimp like low pH as I have read but my pH keeps dropping below 6 and then they die one by one. even after I change the water to a pH of 6.6 they still die. . I don't knw why. have a piece of drift wood with moss on it but this has never caused any problem before.
right now the pH is below 6 but no deaths so far. all red cherries r dead so far
1. Tank size should be at least 20 gallons. I did not have much luck breeding them in smaller tanks.
2. Temp should be between 71-75F. Many people will keep crystal reds with cherries at higher temps (78F+), which is fine
