My name's Misty, I'm from Seattle, I am owned by three children, a spouse, a cat, and a single fish. Its name is Morsel, it is a 'common pleco' (Hypostomus plecostomus) and he entered our lives when our eldest daughter, who has but doesn't suffer at all from, Asperger's Syndrome (I do the suffering, she has the fun.) was learning to sleep alone. We bought an aquarium to produce water sounds (but we did not buy fish.)

A few months later, when she could sleep in her own room, we noticed that she had begun to put things in the water, and removed the tank, of course. At this point, around her second birthday, I bought three comet goldfish (later named Sparkle, Glimmer and Shine by my four year olds, but originally Morticia, Fester and Gomez) and Morsel, whose original name was Lurch. Lurch grew hugely, and I'm relatively sure he killed Gomez earlier this winter by "grooming" him to death, but as Gomez was the eldest of our goldfish at roughly 5 years of age...It might have just been time.

Morsel, nee Lurch, is a very nocturnal creature who seems to enjoy playing "troll under the bridge" - lifting the ceramic ornamental bridge out of the aquarium gravel, knocking it to its side, and hoovering on it. Every couple of days, I flip it back upright. He's fun to watch and my daughters are fascinated by him, although they're ready for me to add more fish.
