I was wondering if a shoal of 10-12 Cardinal Tetras would be OK with a male Three Spot Gourami? I haven't heard of any problems with this before but thought I'd check before getting any Tetras...
my tank is a 180l planted community aquarium.
any info would be great. thanks

I've not personally had a Three Spot Gourami but I've heard that they can become aggressive to smaller fish as they mature. Hopefully someone with actually years of experience with them will chime in to verify that or deny it.

Are there any other fish in that tank? If not, in that size tank I'd have a larger school of tetras. If yes... what else do you have or are you going to have in there?

Many testimonies of three spot keepers indicate they can be kept with smaller fish if grown with them and specially if three or four gourami individuals are present. So, in your situation, I think it would be risky.

the only other fish in the tank are an adult (old) Angelfish, a Cory and some Boeseman Rainbow fish... other than a school of Tetras I have no plans to put in any other fish yet. I was thinking of moving the Gourami to another tank (80l) but that has 4 Cichlids and I have a feeling they may not get on. This grumpy old Gourami is giving me a headache Smile

The angelfish will likely eat the cardinals, anyways. Before you get any tetras, you should worry about upping the number of cories to atleast three, preferably 6+. They will not be happy alone.
