I believe this is a King Tiger plec but wanted to double check as the LFS owner wasn't quite sure as it looks a little different than some others he's gotten by that name.

Anyone think differently?

The catfish in your photo, Cinder, looks like a Hypancistrus species catfish to me.

From the markings it looks like a L340. The place of capture is all-important with Hypancistrus, as may of them have similar body markings.

Exporters are still allowed to collect from the area where L340 is known, which is why I'm pretty sure of the ID.
HTH
Very Happy

Well, I'm really, really bummed. I got him/her on Tuesday and it died on Saturday. I haven't lost a fish like that in over 4 years so I don't know why it died.

I took a sample of water and the fish back to my LFS and they verified that my water conditions are great. They also did an 'autopsy' on the fish... it showed nothing to give them any ideas on why it didn't survive.

I'm afraid to get another one but I really loved his colors and watching him move around the tank.
