|
|
| I'm looking to get a T5 fixture for my standard 10 gallon aquarium. The only fixtures I have found that fit though are 24 inches since I couldn't find any 18's whose legs extend far enough. Any suggestions on systems? I'm Preferably looking only for a double lamp fixture. |

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news bro but you have gone from LOW maintenance to extremely HIGH.
1st thing is you will need to replace the Anatic bulb (420/460nm) with either a 6700K or 10K. A SINGLE T5NO would have been just fine for a 10gal tank. You know have 48W over a 10gal, I have 108 on a 75. See the problem. |

You are still going to have a few problems...Here's a chart I have referenced a few times.
You would be the 1-T5HO. So what you want to do is determine the distance from the light to the top of the substrate and this is give you your PAR
HOPE all this helps |

Ment to mention this:::
This is a 10 gal tank so the height is 12inches. The first 3 is your situation.
On top of the tank TOO HIGH
4 in above the tank HIGH This is what I suggest
12 in above the tank 1 bulb LOW / 2 HIGH
So you are really going to need some high demading plants..and plants that grow fast. You do not need slow growers like Anubias.
Water-Sprite
Brazilian Water Weed
You are going to have to use Ferts and Excel to keep the algae away. |

You could also lower the light range a little with a floating plant like amazon frogbit or giant duckweed. I have 2 t5 bulbs over my 30 gallon, and everything grows really nicely. I have the light about 2inches over the water surface (it is an open tank). Then I have a nice layer of duckweed, and giant duckweed. Under the duckweed I'm growing medium to high light plants.
I have:
Dwarf Hairgrass - Eleocharis parvula
Pygmy Chain Sword - Echinodorus tenellus
Amazon Sword - Echinodorus amazonicus
Vallisneria - Vallisneria spiralis
Cabomba - Cabomba caroliniana
Purple Cabomba - xxxxxxxxxx
And Stargrass - Heteranthera zosterifolia
These are all doing exceptionally well. I am not dosing C02, or an alternate carbon source. I dose Leaf Zone Liquid fertilizer every second or third day, and have root tabs in my sand substrate. _________________ Please, oh Please can someone help me!?
