|
|
I have a 75G tank I'm setting up for my step father..
I have in there right now, 1 Oscar (not fully grown at all, halfway there I'd say), 2 firemouths, and 1 quite decently sized common pleco... is there anything else I can put in the tank??
I know it is probably out of the question, but what about a figure 8 puffer or any kind of eel? (I'm guessing no on the eel is probably a no because they tend to be unaggressive)
thank you for the replies! |

No more fish and you may have to remove the firemouths as the Oscar grows.
If you got a much larger (150gallons plus) tank there are fish that could fit but never a figure eight puffer which requires different water conditions. |

I am helping my father set up a 12,000 litre tank in his office for oscars. He intends to get 2 pairs (2 albino and 2 tiger). Could I include Jewel Cichlids, plecos or Lake Malawi cichlids? They are about the only large tropical fish for sale here, excluding discus and arowanas.

Definitely not the Malawis, the water conditions are much too different. I think that the jewel cichlids might work, but I would check that with somebody first. _________________ Please, oh Please can someone help me!?

Bukari,
What are the dimensions of the 1200 litre tank?
Unless it is over 2m long two pairs of Oscars won't work as they need their territory and the other fish need to be able to get out of the way.
Jewel cichlids can work with Oscars if given enough space but I would not consider them large |

It's Bukhari.
Diademhil,the tank's:
Length=300 cm
Breadth=200 cm
Height=200 cm.
Thanks, I plan to introduce a pair of jewel cichlids and a pair of britlenose plecos, nothing else. |

Sorry for the typo.
Can you confirm the dimensions please as that doesn't work out as a 1200 litre tank. |

| My mistake. The tank is a 12,000 litre one. The dimensions are correct. |

I would go with six young Oscars to hope for at least one pair.
A pair of jewels if you like them.
Bristlenoses or a nice big sailfin gibbiceps and a shoal of tinfoil barbs, bala sharks or if you can find them, Brycon.
Is this viewed From the side or above? |

The tank's viewed from the side.
I've decided on:
6 oscars
4 jewel cichlids
2 bristlenose plecos
8 tinfoil barbs
2 bala sharks. |
