Any thoughts on these? Has anyone tried or seen one in use?

Only just noticed them recently - they look like quite nice units. Bit expensive though.

I did not see a price for them. With it being 800lumen, that is pretty good but compared to what you get out of t5's and cost...Not sure util I see how much this unit cost.

Hm, I actually think that lumen measure is quite low proportionally - the benchmark figures I have in mind are that a 7w compact fluorescent (spiral bulb) is approximately 250 lumen and an 11w compact fluorescent (linear bulb) is approximately 600 lumen. A 3w LED or 3x1w LEDs is usually about 250 lumen so 10x3W LEDs on that units for a total of 800 lumen seems a bit short somewhere. Unfortunately there are no PAR figures anywhere.

Agreed that I think the main drawback is cost though.

And that is one of the most important numbers when dealing with Planted tanks.
