I managed to kill my Marsilea hirsuta. Embarassed Left most of it in a tank with no light or circulation for a couple of months before I remembered. Planted a few bits in another tank but they never grew, I think they got choked out by my Helanthiums. But yes, very hardy plant when I had it.

I think it is possible to grow a Marsilea carpet with your current set up too. No CO2 or lighting upgrades needed, just many months of waiting (no exaggeration here). If you can find any Helanthium spp (chain swords) or feel like trying mosses again, those are the only other two options I can think of that are feasible without upgrades.

By this do you mean only partly filling the tank with water so the HC is just submerged? Would the fish mind this - How long would this take - Thanks for the advice though. Very Happy

Of course the fish would mind, LOL. Like diademhill said this is for a new tank. Fill so that only the HC stems are submerged, leaves emerged.

HC is pretty hard to grow and I would as well suggest the Clover, if you can find it.

Guess, I should have answered the question about the fish minding myself Laughing - The things tiredness can do! - Thanks for the advice though, in the next school holiday which is about two weeks, I'll pop down to the store and ask about these, - Tried chain sword but it died within a few weeks, - also watched a few videos on you tube on how to plant such carpets.

Marsilea hirsuta - Not sure how easy it is to get hold of these here in the Uk but I shall enquire - Thanks again Very Happy
