Okay so I think the disease I have in my african cichlid tank is a bacterial infection... I'm not sure though... My mono has what looks like white little dots on him... no its not ich, ich looks like its a part of the scales, this is on the scales... like pimples kinda, but white and cottony looking.. I noticed that the infected fish doesn't scrape against the rocks, but the other ones do...

I'm working on getting my quarentine tank cycled as soon as I can and I wish I could have it be done so I could help out the situation better...

I've been treating my tank "Pimafix" for about a week now... and the symptoms have gone from a 1-10 (10 being worst) from a 10 to a 4ish.. but it still hasn't gone away... am I doing anything wrong??? (btw yes, I did take out the carbon from my tank)

Are you sure it is not Ich? The way your fish are behaving, it sounds like Ich to me. If it is white and cotton-like, it could also be a bacterial infection.

A picture would be helpful.

It's ich white spot best treatment is metro-pro it is pure metronidazole powder even the new nasty strains of ich which eat other meds (just kidding other meds just won't work).another good med is rid ich it's cheap just do not over dose okay and you might have to do more then one treatment.stay away from the fuzzy pill crap it dose not work waste of money and remember ich affects gills too.It is a common problem easly treated but a problem that kills more fish each year then any other pathogen out there Also metronidazole power will kill gram negative bacteria.
Even experts make the simplest sometimes dumb mistakes.Learn from them.
