I just noticed what appears to be a tiny bug in the water of the aquarium.

They maybe the size of a tack pin or the size of a pen head, WELL they're small..

The fish attempt to eat it but spit it out.

Any one have any ideas and are these things dangerous.

Thank you...

Hard to say without a picture; perhaps they are copepods?

OK, if they copepods, are they harmful? What do I do to rid them from the tank?

Would say that most small critters you see crawling/swimming around are harmless - not something to worry about unless you actually notice them sticking to fish or causing harm. It is a bit unusual that your fish aren't eating them though.

They are harmless. An explosion in their population may indicate there is excess food/detritus in the aquarium, however.

OK that makes sense.

I think I may have to give them less food.

I just did a water change.
