So I got a 55 gallon complete setup over the weekend for $150. I'm in the process of making a DIY background right now so I'm gonna post those pics. I'm going to be making it sort of an amazon fish biotope, not so much with the plants. I'm going to use a sand substrate but I might use some gravel as well

These are all the pieces that I've cut out and melted.

the mess still after I cleaned up most of it
there are Styrofoam tracks all around the basement as well

I don't know what color I want to paint the background yet tho.
I was thinkking a darkish grey color for the rock background and a lightish brown color for the stump. the stump will be a little to the right of the center of the tank. Any ideas? |

So I have decided to not put my stump idea in. It took up way too much room. I did my last coat of paint today on the rocks and it's going to be a brownish color for the background. Tomorrow I'll be able to set everything up and start the cycling |

| I have the tank cycling now. The marineland penguin 350 is making a ton of noise. Is this normal? or is there something wrong with it? |

| I do not use HOB's but I had heard in other places that the penguin 350 tend to do this. There is a mod out there somewhere on how to quieten (sp) it. |
