whats everyone opinion of the fluval 405? theres one for sale on kijiji and I want a canister filter for my 55g.

with the addition of the plecos recently, I have noticed that my filter media needs cleaning much more frequently in the tetra whisper ex70.

Fluval 405 is an excellent filter.

I've never used the other to compare though.

Get it, you are going to need a canister filter because with the EX series, they provide a lot of aeration and I know you are planning on getting a pressurized co2 system and the HOB filter will make it harder for you to get high c02 levels.

I really don't like my ex30 just because if the water drops just the slightest bit it makes a water-fall sound that is really loud. Go for the fluval.

I love both my Fluval canister filters. Get the canister - you won't regret that.
