Good for you pickles. I didn't learn a whole lot about keeping fish (for the long term) when I was at the LFS, but the exposure to the business side of the hobby as well as species identification, illness identification (and treatment), feedback from customers, tank maintenance and product knowledge were invaluable assets. Make friends with employees, vendors and customers and you will gain a lot of useful information. Well worth the store credit wage IMO. _________________ You're gonna need a bigger boat... |

Yeah. All the customers are really nice. One guy gave me a 46 gallon bf for free. He also offered me a 3 inch bubble tip. That's like a 100 dollar nem _________________ 46 gallon-reef |

Started when I was 11 or 12. I had a paper route which paid for my hobbies. _________________ 150 Gallon (567.811768 liters) community tank, 50 Gallon African Tank, 7 reef tanks, 6 FOLR, 28 freshwater tanks |

I started out with a 20g metaframe tank when I was 6 or 7, my dad is a bit of a fish nut so he taught me how to do it and I too care of them and he bought the fish and food. It was a nice little community tank with a few live plants, looking back the only thing that was really done wrong was the common pleco in there. Other than that it was cherry barbs, a few mollys and some neon tetras and a few banana plants and I think there were a few vals in there too. I still have the tank filter and lace rock from that tank and they are all still in use!
I work at a lfs now and have learned quite a bit, but the one I work at isn't the usual big box store, we will spend and hour or more teaching you if you want/need help _________________ I think I need a bigger tank......

by the age of 15.. my boyfriend was in debt to his parents $3000 for downhill bikes. Lets just say he did a lot of 4am baking at his parents cafe to prepare for the morning open/rush before going to school. _________________ Let the current take you where you may not always want to go. |
