Shh, don't tell anyone...I think its just hey! You spend a lot of time here and help out the customers and we will give you store credit for no real reason...under the table type of deal.

That seems pretty good, I help my grandparents sort paperwork. That is a lot of fun  . Right now I'm actually like $20 in debt to my parents, but my brother is doing football and they are spending like a hundred on all his gear, so I may have like $50 soon? I'm not doing that bad, since I bought 150 bricks for a path through the garden, 2 cans of paint, curtains, beads, a fish tank, sand, plants, decor, and hopefully soon some fish.

If its a contract, where the agreement was work in exchange for store credit, I don't see why that wouldn't be legal.  I know some people who graduate college and do internships where they don't get paid at all. Had a student teacher in high school who wasn't paid and wasn't allowed to have a job on the side.
For dyl especially... $7/hour for a young aquarist really works out pretty good in dyl's favor. He gets to learn a lot about fish, and he's able to purchase fish and fish supplies.

From what I have heard via chat I don't think there is any signed paperwork (I could very well be wrong), However you do get lots of experience and a great reference for a future job.
