Well it is happening... the mood is right in my 55g and my dwarf neon rainbowfish are feeling the good vibes. 2 or 3 of the males have that amazing yellow stripe down their foreheads, and the colour is even on their mouths. They are rubbing up against each other (males AND females.. gues they don't mind!) There's a lot of love in my tank.
Anything I can expect out of this behaviour? Anything to help it along? I have a 20g I could use for grow-out if they will naturally spawn in this tank, but I'm not about to move them all over for the sake of spawning. _________________ Let the current take you where you may not always want to go. |

My dwarf rainbows have been doing this display for months and I have yet to notice any eggs, let alone fry. It is exciting to watch, even though I've been watching it for a long time.
They will likely lay eggs along plant stems (I believe), so be watching those. And if you want to encourage it, I read that doing a large water change with water that is slightly cooler than the tank water could be just what they need. But I would be sure to have grow-out tank set up... fry make yummy snacks. _________________ - Rachel |

Congrats!
Yes, cool water... maybe 1/3 to 1/2 tank of it... can trigger them spawning. _________________ Diamond Hill, Hong Kong |
