I love how goat skulls can get you tanks now...

Is that some kind of Aussie saying? I think the US equivalent might be that you can buy them for peanuts. Wink

No he traded a goat skull for this guy to make him the tank. No "aussie" saying, just the truth!

OH! Well OK, then! Hilarious.

So we started loading the tank into the car and it was rubbing against the chairs in the back seat, it wasn't moving and my father said bring it it, I push and it went against a bolt that kept the seatbelt in place and the side pane of glass CRACKED Shocked Mad , I will be getting a new pane next month from the same guy, but also, I will be getting the tank drilled for a sump system. Not a bad thing, just that it will take longer and the guy has to pay to get a new piece of glass for it. Nice tank other than the fact it cracked. Shocked Mad

It was my fault Sad

Did I tell anyone that this is going to be a SW aquarium and that I am going to use a 20g high tank as a quarentene and have my 55g as a sump? I really hope that this comes together once I get the glass fixed on the 9th of nov. with sump holes drilled. Once I get it all drilled and the sump ready I will get the skimmer. I can't wait to ask my dad to get vodka for my aquarium, it will be awesome. Hoping to keep a few easy and fast growing corals, maybe later on it will help pay back if I can get a frag rack in the back or in the sump....or both. I am thinking I might get a blue regal tang but that is on the "fish not for beginners" list but from what I hear it is just because of tank size, so either that or a yellow tang or a "my bubbles" tang as my mom calls it.

One thing often forgotten in the planning stages of a sump is accessibility.
You need room to get your arms in and to see what you are doing.

A 55g is too tall to allow this in most circumstances. A 40g breeder is much better but a 20g long would be OK.

I second that. You will probably have to do top offs every week or so.
