I'm just wondering. every one told me I can't put a tang in a tank smaller than six feet. I had a four foot tank. but in the tank of the month there are 2 tangs in what I believe is a 3 foot tank. can any one explain why I can't keep tangs in a 4 ft ank? but they can?

Apparently you missed the part on that page that said: "For September we're do something a little different...instead of elaborating on all the technical details of a setup, let's just sit back and appreciate the sheer beauty of this wonderful collection of reef aquariums!" Rolling Eyes

I don't know what size that tank is, and I don't care. The owner has been an active member of the Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) for at least 10 years, so I'm willing to assume she knows what she's doing... Wink

to add to Marcos' bit;-
You can put a tang in a tank less than 6 feet if you have the larger tank ready & waiting.
Many people move tangs or other larger growing fish up but that doesn't mean you should purchase any without the facility to do so.

That tank looks to be four feet and very tall. It also looks well established.

Contrary to what you might think, you do not have the experience in fresh water or with marine tanks to be attempting anything except the "very safe and conservative". I have read many of your answers to questions here and you have years to go before attempting the species of Tang you were interested in - regardless of tank size.

I don't mean to be overly harsh, but a person cannot speed up experience and you have very little.

How can you know how much experience I have? Are you stalking me or something? Wink

You can tell a lot by the questions that are asked and how other people's questions are answered.

It really is that clear ak. You pretty well live in a glass house.

Not all that difficult to ascertain.

What questions have made me seem like I don't have experience?

This is one that stuck out in my memory. I would rather not go hunting for more.

hey guys..... so I feel kinda stupid but today I was at petco and they had 2 little baby hippo tangs... they are both about an inch. they are both covered in ick. they were on sale and I was gona use one to cycle the tank. but then my mom was looking at them while I was getting some ick meds and she ended up getting both and a pink tipped anemone. so I know how stupid that was. but they won't be long term and I know aggression will break out. I know the anemone needs an aged tank. we will see how this all goes. but I have 2 questions.

1. how fast will the hippos grow?

2. what would happen if I put ick meds in with the anemone? my ick meds are ick attack treats both fresh and saltwater
