Fun for the kid, maybe. For the poor killifish, definitely not...virtually all of them will be condemned to a short, miserable life just to entertain a kid for a little while.
There are much better ways to raise children's interest in fishkeeping and animal life in general, without submitting the fish to that kind of "life". _________________

I completely agree with marcos. How would you like to be crammed in a tank against your will with polluted air. That is pretty much what the fish will experience most of its life. When keeping a fish I try to make it as close to its wild habitat, not cram a fish where it grows to 1/4th its potential size and can't even turn around in the tank. I wish PITA would get involved with these "companies", not to make it harder for people to get fish, but to prevent "instant fish" from being on the market, same with dyed fish. That is just my opinion though. _________________

If PETA gets involved, the cause is pretty much doomed. Not many (including true animal lovers) take them seriously. They are so far over the top it's comical... in a grotesque kind of way.
PETA believes no one should own pets of any kind (dogs, cats, fish, etc.) and instead all the animals should be set free and it'll be all rainbows and butterflies.
PETA animal shelters kill something like 95% of the strays they take in. They're the very last group I'd want involved in my cause.
Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now. _________________ Dumpster Tank

Peta is definitely not something I take seriously. as for interesting try growing plants that come in those starter kits, they can be just as colourful and live much longer.
betas are another good starting point for kids as their first pets _________________ The Legendary Frog Splash |

I was just using them a reference, meaning that somebody should stop these insta-fish things. _________________
