That's me, too. I've got an endler/guppy, as well as the syno mix. Both fish seem perfectly normal and they aren't complete abominations or anything... but who would bother mixing the two breeds when the originals are perfectly beautiful, all on their own? (Obviously, somebody does... haha)
I'm going to be careful not to show my husband these glowing angels... he'll think we need some. XD Just what I need... is for him to put glofish and green angels in my new tank... _________________ - Rachel |

Really I don't think this is so much about producing glowing fish because people like them, but because it can be done. There's a lot of that going around in the world of genetics, genomics, and cloning.
Personally, I don't care for glowing fish at all... my plain and boring koi angels are fine with me! |

Would be rather interesting at parties. You and your clothes could glow. _________________ You don't know until you try it!

This is so true. And all the glowing people would definitely want black lights in their homes. _________________ - Rachel |

Wait, what? There is an allele for 'glowing'? Haha, have I been so disconnected from the fish-keeping world that there's this whole new trend of glowing fish? Where did this come from? how is it even done?
But yes, if it's just a mutation then I say its better then dying fish for sure! (Obviously wouldn't be a particularly successful one in the wild) |

...it's complicated. To be honest I'm not too familiar with the techniques used, bit out of my field. Probably easier if you play around on Google looking for how they generate transgenic/knock in mice rather than me trying to explain it - I assume the techniques used for fish would be very similar. _________________ Fishing in the Rivers of Light |

Yeah fair enough. I understand a bit about the transgenic aspect of it, just how they actually get the 'glowing' part part confuses me haha. I'll see what I can find and post it if I get anywhere... |
